My little brother and I have this habit of before hitting the sack, we go to a nearby internet cafe and play online or surf the net. We stay in a dormitory in Intramuros, and we’re still considering whether to have our PC at home in Cubao transferred to our a small pad.  After our online habit, we have our snacks at 711 or Mini Stop. We would usually sleep at 11 in the evening to around one o’clock in the morning.

At 30, I already find it hard to sleep early but surprisingly, I wake up early as well. I was told that as you grow older, your sleep gets shorter. My mom could sleep for only two hours and be energetic for the rest of the day. I had officemates who sleep for only a few hours and still manage to exercise in the gym. But unlike people my senior, I still find myself sleepy during the day. They say take power naps or that short 10 to 15 minute siesta after lunch. Still trying to get the feel of it. Tried it way back but I still would feel sleepy. I  feel conscious coz I know I snore (Hey! Don’t blame me. It runs in the family).

So far, I’m getting enough sleep to energize me everyday. I would just have problems on a weekend coz I would often sleep til lunchtime on Saturdays and Sundays. And when Sunday night comes, I would have a hard time sleeping coz I woke up late in the morning. By Monday morning, I would feel tired and sleepy because I had insomnia Sunday night. But I’ll be ok coz I’ll be catching up sleep Monday night.

Another problem during sleep is when you know that someone is thinking of you that very moment when you are about to sleep. I realize that no amount of hot milk, cold shower or counting activity would make you sleep. There’s this mantra my grandma taught me, problem is, I would wake up late because of the strong sleeping and hypnotic power of that prayer.

But you know what? The best antidote for insomnia is this… blog and bore yourself to sleep. He he he… Good night!
